Privacy Policy
Last updated
This policy covers the TubeBlock.net browser extension, including version 0.1.0, this website and its interactive demo. The extension's current features filter video titles and hide supported Shorts discovery surfaces on the desktop www.youtube.com website.
Short version
- No TubeBlock account is required.
- The extension processes relevant YouTube page content on your device to apply your filters.
- Your saved rules and preferences stay in local extension storage in this browser profile. They are not automatically synchronized to other devices.
- We do not receive your filter list, YouTube titles, video identifiers or viewing activity from the extension.
- The extension contains no analytics, advertising code or remote executable code.
- We do not sell user data or use it for advertising, creditworthiness or lending.
Information the extension accesses
To hide matching cards, the extension reads video titles, video links and identifiers, the current YouTube page URL, and the page structure needed to identify video cards and Shorts. When a title is unavailable in the visible card, a read-only helper can obtain the corresponding title from data that YouTube has already loaded into the page. This processing is limited to www.youtube.com and supports the filtering feature.
Titles, identifiers and page information are processed in memory. They are not sent to TubeBlock.net, to us, or to an external filtering or classification service. The extension does not build a saved browsing-history list, request the Chrome history permission, or record a viewing history. It does not read cookies, passwords, payment details, private messages or information from unrelated websites.
Saved rules and preferences
Local extension storage holds the enabled or paused state, Hide Shorts preference, keyword words and phrases, each rule's whole-word matching mode, and any saved list entries retained from earlier settings. The extension uses these settings to restore your choices between browsing sessions. It does not require a sign-in or use cloud synchronization.
Video-title metadata and the count of loaded cards hidden in the current tab are temporary working information rather than a server-side activity record. Pausing filtering keeps your saved preferences so that you can enable them again.
Permissions and purpose
- Storage: saves your filter rules and preferences locally.
- Access to https://www.youtube.com/*: allows the extension to identify relevant video titles, links and Shorts surfaces, hide matching content and report the current tab's filtering status to its popup.
These permissions are used to customize the YouTube pages you view. The extension does not submit recommendation feedback, unsubscribe from channels, send messages or change your Google account settings. It does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly.
Sharing and limited use
The extension uses the page information it accesses only to provide and improve its stated filtering functionality. It does not sell or transfer that information to third parties, use it for unrelated purposes, or use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending. Its use of information obtained through Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Your saved preferences remain in this browser profile until you edit or remove them, clear the extension's stored data or uninstall the extension. Remove keyword chips in the popup or use the extension's settings to manage saved entries. Uninstalling removes the extension's local storage through the browser. Temporary page metadata is discarded as the filtering context is cleared or the page or browser tab closes. We have no server-side copy of these rules or metadata to retrieve or delete.
The website's interactive demo
The demo uses fictional channels and sample videos. Its channel selections, keywords and switches are processed in page memory in your browser. They are not submitted to a server, saved in cookies or browser storage, or shared with the installed extension. Reloading the page clears its state.
Website hosting and technical information
The website is hosted on Cloudflare. When you visit it, delivering and protecting a page involves processing standard connection information, such as an IP address, the requested URL and browser information. Cloudflare may process request logs for delivery, reliability and security under its own policies. These website requests are separate from the extension's local filtering; the extension does not send your saved filters or YouTube activity to the website.
Cookies and analytics
The website application does not set cookies, load analytics or advertising pixels, embed video players, or make advertising requests. Fonts and images are served with the website. Cloudflare security features may have their own behavior.
Support messages
If you contact us, the message includes the e-mail address and information you choose to send. We use that information to address your request. You control what you include; avoid sending passwords, private viewing information or your full filter list unless needed for a support request.
Contact and changes
Use the contact page for questions about this policy. We will update this page when the extension's or website's data practices change.
